A Devotional on John 10:27-28 for October 13, 2026
In a world filled with competing voices, Jesus speaks with the tenderness and authority of a shepherd who knows His sheep. “My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.” These words invite us into a relationship marked by trust. We belong to a Savior who knows our weaknesses, understands our struggles, and calls us to walk with Him.
Listening to Jesus means giving His words room to shape our lives. As we read Scripture, pray, and obey what He teaches, we learn to recognize the truth that guides our steps. Following Him may require patience, repentance, or courage. Yet every step of obedience is a response to the One who already knows and loves us.
Jesus also gives a promise that reaches beyond our present circumstances: “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish.” Eternal life is His gift, secured by His saving work rather than earned by our performance. It begins in knowing Him and stretches beyond death into the fullness of His presence.
Then comes this precious assurance: “No one can snatch them out of My hand.” His hand does not promise a life untouched by sorrow. It promises that suffering, opposition, and uncertainty cannot overpower His faithful care. Our hope rests in the strength of the Shepherd who holds us.
Whatever today brings, make time to hear His Word and follow where He leads. You are known by Jesus. You are precious to Him. The hand that was pierced for your salvation is strong enough to hold you through every trial.
Lord Jesus, quiet the voices that distract us from Your truth. Teach us to listen, trust, and follow. When fear unsettles our hearts, remind us that we are held securely in Your loving hand. Amen.
