Strength for the Road Ahead
Waiting on the Lord is an act of trust. Bring Him your weariness and rest in His faithfulness. The God who lifts the eagle can renew your strength for the road ahead.
Strength for the Next Step
A Devotional for October 4, 2026
Weariness can reach beyond the body. Delayed answers, persistent burdens, and uncertain days can leave the heart exhausted. Isaiah 40:31 speaks hope into that weariness by directing our attention to the Lord, whose strength never runs dry.
To wait upon the Lord is to place our hope in Him while His purposes unfold. Such waiting involves prayer, trust, and continued obedience, even when the way ahead remains unclear. We bring Him our limitations and depend on His faithfulness to sustain us through what we cannot yet understand.
The promise of renewed strength does not mean that faith removes every difficulty or that believers never feel tired. It assures us that our own resources are not the full measure of what is available to us. God meets His people in their weakness and supplies strength they cannot manufacture for themselves.
Isaiah describes soaring, running, and walking. There are seasons when hope lifts our hearts like wings, and seasons when God gives us courage to run through demanding responsibilities. Yet there is also grace for walking—for rising again, keeping a promise, offering kindness, and taking the next faithful step. Ordinary perseverance is a precious expression of His sustaining care.
Whatever this day requires, you do not have to approach it as though everything depends on your strength. Bring your weary heart to the Lord. Wait with hope, receive His help, and trust Him with the pace of the journey. The God who enables His people to soar also sustains them as they walk.
Lord, teach us to wait upon You with trusting hearts. Renew our strength when we are weary, steady us when we are uncertain, and help us take each faithful step in dependence on Your grace. Amen.
