Held by a Love That Never Lets Go

A Devotional on Romans 8:35, 37 for October 14, 2026

Hardship can make the heart wonder whether God is still near. When prayers seem unanswered and burdens grow heavy, suffering can feel like abandonment. Yet Romans 8:35, 37 assures us that even the fiercest trials cannot separate us from the love of Christ.

Paul names real suffering: trouble, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, and sword. Faith does not make these experiences painless or prevent them from entering our lives. The promise is that none of them has the power to break Christ’s hold upon those who belong to Him. His love remains faithful when circumstances offer little comfort.

Notice the words “in all these things.” We are more than conquerors even while the struggle continues. This victory comes “through Him who loved us.” Its foundation is Christ’s faithfulness, demonstrated at the cross and confirmed in His resurrection. The Savior who gave Himself for us will not abandon us when the road becomes difficult.

Being more than conquerors does not mean we never weep, feel afraid, or need help. It means suffering cannot overturn the lasting victory Christ has secured. Even when our strength is small, His love sustains us, and our future remains safe in His care.

Whatever today brings, approach it knowing you are loved. Bring your fear honestly to Jesus. Receive the support of others. Take the next faithful step, even if it is a small one. Your circumstances may change, but His love will not.

Lord Jesus, help us trust Your love in every trial. When trouble overwhelms us, remind us that nothing can separate us from You. Strengthen us to walk faithfully today, resting in the victory You have won. Amen.
