A Devotional for October 6, 2026
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
Some burdens cannot be seen. A person may carry out daily responsibilities while inwardly weighed down by worry, grief, guilt, or the pressure to keep everyone else standing. Jesus sees that hidden weariness. His invitation reaches beyond outward appearances to the heart that wonders how much longer it can keep going.
“Come to Me,” He says. There is no requirement to become stronger first or to put every troubled thought into words. The invitation is extended to the weary precisely because they need what only He can give. Coming to Jesus begins with trusting that His mercy is greater than our failures and His care is sufficient for our need.
The rest Jesus promises is rooted in belonging to Him. Through His saving grace, we receive forgiveness and reconciliation with God. We can lay down the exhausting effort to earn His acceptance and learn to live in the peace of being loved. Responsibilities may remain, and difficulties may take time to resolve, but we face them in the company of a gentle and faithful Savior.
Today, bring Him the burden that keeps returning to your thoughts. Name it honestly in prayer. Let His words interrupt the demand to solve everything at once. Take the next faithful step, trusting Him with what lies beyond your strength.
You do not have to hide your weariness from Jesus. It is the very place where His invitation meets you.
Lord Jesus, I come to You with my tired heart and the burdens I cannot carry alone. Help me trust Your grace, receive Your rest, and walk with You through this day. Amen.
