Beyond the reach of mortal thought,
Beyond the dream the heart has wrought,
There stands the everlasting King,
From whom all streams of blessing spring.
No measure binds His mighty hand,
No sea can drown, no shore withstand,
The endless riches of His love,
Descending from His throne above.
Before a prayer has found its voice,
Before our trembling hearts rejoice,
His wisdom, perfect, deep, and sure,
Has shaped a hope that shall endure.
We ask for strength to bear the day,
He lights a brighter, nobler way.
We seek a lamp to guide our feet;
He leads us to His mercy seat.
We plead for bread to still our need;
He plants within eternal seed.
We seek a shelter from the storm;
He keeps us safe, secure, and warm.
Our thoughts are bounded by the dust,
Our dreams are frail because they must
Be fashioned by a finite mind
That leaves eternity behind.
Yet He, whose thoughts no man can trace,
Whose counsel overflows with grace,
Prepares what eye has never seen,
The glories of His vast design.
His power, silent as the dawn,
Brings life where every hope has gone.
It lifts the weary from despair
And answers faith with tender care.
Within the soul His Spirit reigns,
Breaking the old and binding chains.
The heart once cold begins to sing,
Awakened by its living King.
No earthly force can stay His hand,
No proud command or stern demand;
The kingdoms rise, the kingdoms fall,
Yet Christ remains the Lord of all.
His church, though humbled, weak, and small,
Still hears His everlasting call.
Through every age His truth is known,
His grace the cornerstone alone.
From ancient saints whose faith endured,
To those whose witness is secured
In lands where countless voices raise
Their songs of everlasting praise,
The chorus grows from shore to shore,
Each generation adding more,
Until one endless anthem rings
Before the Lord of lords and kings.
To Christ be honor without end,
The Savior, Brother, Lord, and Friend;
The Lamb once slain, now glorified,
Who lives forever at God's side.
The Father's wisdom planned redemption,
The Spirit works with kind intention,
And all creation yet shall see
The splendor of this mystery.
Forever let His praises rise,
Like incense climbing through the skies.
Forever let His people sing
The matchless greatness of their King.
For He accomplishes far more
Than all our hearts could ask Him for;
Beyond imagination's frame
Resounds the glory of His name.
So let each grateful spirit bow,
With humble faith and sacred vow,
Declaring through eternity:
All glory, Lord, belongs to Thee.
Amen.
