A Sacrifice of Living Flame

A Poem Inspired by Romans 12:1

Lord, teach the heart to rise and give,
To walk the path where mercies live,
For grace has called the soul to stand
And place its life within Your hand.

Not on an altar cold and bare,
But in the quiet, daily care
Of choosing love, rejecting wrong,
And shaping life into a song.

A living sacrifice we bring—
Not bound by rope, nor silenced thing,
But breathing still, and moving free,
Yet wholly Yours in loyalty.

In hidden hours and open days,
In weary steps and whispered praise,
Let every act, however small,
Become a gift, become our all.

For holiness is not a height
We scale alone by human might,
But mercy’s work within the soul
That makes the broken spirit whole.

So take our hands, our thoughts, our ways;
Make worship more than hymns we raise.
Let life itself—its pulse, its breath—
Declare Your goodness unto death.

And as we yield what You require,
Fan every offering into fire,
Until our lives, by love refined,
Reflect the heart of Christ’s design.
