Bless thou the Lord, my soul, and sing,
Remember every gracious thing;
Let not His mercies fade from sight,
Nor gifts of love be lost to night.
Remember how His pardon flows
Where guilt has left its deepest woes;
No stain of sin, no hidden scar
Can place the contrite heart too far.
He speaks forgiveness, full and free,
And breaks the chains of misery;
Where condemnation once had stood,
He covers shame with mercy’s good.
Remember Him who heals the heart,
Who tends each wounded, aching part;
Who meets us where our sorrows lie
And hears the faintest, feeblest cry.
Though earthly bodies fade and fail,
His faithful kindness shall prevail;
And even where no cure appears,
His presence walks beside our tears.
Remember Him who from the grave
Descends in mighty love to save;
When hope seems buried in the deep,
His hand can reach the soul weeps.
He lifts us from the darkest pit,
Where fear and death together sit;
He draws us toward the morning skies
And bids the fallen spirit rise.
Then on the head once bowed with care,
He sets a crown of mercy there;
Not gold that earthly kingdoms prize,
But steadfast love that never dies.
Compassion forms its shining band,
And lovingkindness holds our hand;
The Lord who knows our fragile frame
Still calls His weary children by name.
He satisfies with what is good,
With heaven’s gracious daily food;
Not every longing we may bring,
But every gift our souls need sing.
He gives the bread that strengthens faith,
The hope that triumphs over death,
The grace sufficient for the day,
The lamp that lights the narrow way.
And like the eagle mounting high,
Renewed beneath the boundless sky,
The weary soul receives new wings
And rises by the strength He brings.
Not by the power of human might,
Nor by the pride of earthly flight,
But by the God whose mercies pour
From age to age forevermore.
So bless the Lord, O soul of mine;
Recall His goodness, line by line.
When troubles gather, count again
The mercies shining through the rain.
Remember pardon. Remember grace.
Remember His redeeming embrace.
Remember healing, love, and care;
Remember God is always there.
When memory weakens under grief,
Remember Him who brings relief;
When darkness whispers hope is gone,
Remember mercy greets the dawn.
For He who rescued yesterday
Has neither changed nor turned away;
The hands that lifted from the deep
Are still the hands that guard and keep.
Bless thou the Lord when mornings rise;
Bless Him beneath the evening skies.
Bless Him when songs come easily;
Bless Him when praise costs painfully.
Forget not all His benefits,
Nor where the throne of mercy sits;
For every blessing finds its source
In Him whose love maintains its course.
Forgiven, healed, redeemed, and crowned,
By steadfast mercy wrapped around,
Satisfied with gifts divine,
Renewed by strength no years confine.
Rise, weary soul, on eagle’s wing;
Remember well—and remembering, sing.
For from the pit to heaven above,
Your days are held by faithful love.
Bless thou the Lord, O soul, once more,
Whose mercies stand forever sure;
And let remembrance turn to praise
Through all the length of earthly days.
Until the final shadows cease
And faith gives way to perfect peace,
The soul redeemed shall gladly tell:
The Lord has done all things well.
