My Hiding Place

A Poem Inspired by Psalm 32:7

When storms arise and shadows fall,
And troubled winds around me call,
There stands a refuge, strong and sure,
A holy shelter to endure.

No earthly wall, no fortress high,
Could guard the heart when dangers nigh;
Yet underneath the darkest night,
The Lord surrounds His own with light.

“You are my hiding place,” I cry,
When restless clouds obscure the sky;
Within Your presence I am still,
Secure beneath Your sovereign will.

Though trouble gathers at the door,
And waves of sorrow strike the shore,
Your faithful hand shall hold me fast;
The fiercest tempest cannot last.

You do not promise cloudless days,
Nor paths untouched by thorny ways;
But through the valley, deep and long,
You compass me with saving song.

A song of mercy fills the air,
A hymn of grace is waiting there;
Where fear once whispered of defeat,
Deliverance rises strong and sweet.

The chains that bound the heart give way;
The night retreats before the day.
The captive soul, released and free,
Now sings of what Your love can be.

O Lord, when enemies appear,
Be still the shelter drawing near;
When anxious thoughts within me rise,
Turn trembling hearts toward heaven’s skies.

Hide me beneath Your wings of grace,
And let me rest within that place
Where neither sorrow, fear, nor strife
Can separate my soul from life.

Surround me, Lord, with songs divine,
Till every frightened thought is Thine;
Till faith can hear, through grief and pain,
The joyful sound of hope again.

And when the final shadows cease,
And earthly storms give way to peace,
The song begun through trials here
Shall rise where trouble draws not near.

For You remain my refuge true,
My hiding place when storms pursue;
My Guardian through the darkest night,
My song of freedom in the light.

So let the weary heart be still,
And rest beneath the Father’s will;
For those whom God Himself surrounds
Shall hear deliverance in His sounds.

The night may fall, the tempest race,
But God remains our hiding place;
And through the darkness faith shall sing:
Our Refuge is the Lord, our King.
